About Blue FCU Arena

The Colorado Eagles play their games out of The Blue FCU Arena in Loveland, Colorado. You can find this amazing venue just northeast of Denver on The Ranch Events Complex. It has capacity for 7500 guests as well as 777 club seats and 24 luxury suites.

History

Construction for the venue was completed in 2003. Its first event was held on September 20, 2003 with a sold-out exhibition hockey match between the Colorado Avalanche and the Florida Panthers. And the venue has become a popular hot spot for hockey fans since. In fact, The Colorado Eagles reportedly established a record for minor league hockey sold-out games with 145 consecutive sellouts set on January 12, 2008. Including this streak, the Eagles have reportedly sold out 181 consecutive games in total which represents every game during their first 4 and a half years of operation.

Notable events

The venue also hosted the 2009 Central Hockey League All-Star Game. It has seen concerts and special events by famous musicians, bands, performers, and organizations including: Widespread Panic, David Bowie, Rod Stewart, Yes, and ZZ Top; comedians Bill Cosby, Ron White, Carlos Mencia, Gabriel Iglesias & Larry the Cable Guy; as well as Cirque Du Soleil, Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus, Disney on Ice, The Wiggles, Sesame Street Live, and The Harlem Globetrotters.

Hockey Achievements

The Colorado Eagles are a professional minor league ice hockey team based in Loveland, Colorado. They play in the Pacific Division of the AHL and were founded as an expansion franchise in 2003 in the CHL. They remained in the CHL until June 2011 where they joined the ECHL.

The team quickly proved their dominance with several strong seasons. In fac,t during their time in the CHL, the team won two Ray Miron President’s Cups, three regular season titles, five conference titles, and six division titles all in only eight seasons. So perhaps because of this, the team was granted membership as an expansion team in the AHL beginning with the 2018-19 season. They joined as an affiliate team of the Colorado Avalanche of the NHL.

Currently, the team across its entire history, has several incredible seasons. And here’s a brief rundown of what they’ve accomplished.

Team History

The franchise first came to be in 2003 by former Montreal Canadiens player Ralph Backstrom. The team made their mark early advancing to the playoffs in their very first season and winning the CHL championship in their second season. They then won their division in the 2005-06 season, but lose in the second round of the playoffs to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. They won another CHL Championship in the 2006-07 season defeating the Laredo Bucks four games to two in the Cup Finals.

After the 2007-08 season, Kevin McClelland replaced Chris Stewart as coach after Stewart’s retirement. But McClelland didn’t remain in the position and Stewart resumed his position after serving as team president and General Manager.

The following year, during the 2008-09 season, the Eagles hosted the 2009 CHL All-Star Game and took on a group of CHL All-Stars from various teams. The exhibition took place on January 14, 2009 with the Eagles coming out on top with an 8-4 win.

After joining the ECHL, the team has enjoyed similar levels of success with several division and conference titles won during the period. Fans from all over the world have taken to consider Eagles one of the consistent high performers of minor league Hockey and are eagerly awaiting their next winning season.
